Halloween. This day holds a special place in my heart, not only do I get to dress up like a crazy character every year but I also get to celebrate the day my baby sister was born!
I wanted to share this story with you because it still makes me laugh till this day.
Picture this, October 31, 1985 in Omaha, Nebraska. My moms water breaks and she is admitted into the hospital so my dad stays home with me and my older sister Andrea. Because it’s Halloween we clearly want to go Trick or Treating. However with all the craziness of my mom going into labor and not being there to dress us in our costumes, my dad takes the lead. For whatever reason, he decides to be creative and make our costumes instead. Mind you it’s about 40 degrees outside.
I’ll start with Andrea’s costume, if you haven’t guessed, she’s a witch and a happy one that that. LOL She is wearing a ski jumpsuit, turtleneck and what I can speculate to be a black trash bag. My dad did manage to find a witch hat! He then painted her face white and drew on some awesome looking eyebrows!
Now, lets move on to my costume shall we. This my friends is my dads white T-shirt!! The whole that would typically go over your head manages to fit perfectly around mine just above the ears. haha I love that my bangs are also sticking out. You know me and my hair!! I will give my dad major points for making it look like I’m ACTUALLY FLOATING!!!
I wish I knew exactly what my sister and I were thinking at this very moment, but I’m sure it was something like “seriously, dad?” haha I still joke about this costume with him every year and now say “Seriously Dad, this was epic!” We love our half-assed Halloween costume! Please tell me this has happened to you before!
With that said, my adorable little sister Amber was welcomed into the world!
Happy Birthday sis, I love you!!
