I thought it would be fun to change up my blog posts and add some beauty items into the mix! I get asked all the time about my skin care routine and wanted to share with you just what I do to keep my skin looking young, healthy and vibrant! People always think I look younger than I am, and I’m not complaining one bit, and I have my skin care routine to thank for that! 🙂
I’ll be honest when I was in high school and growing up I didn’t really pay that much attention to my skin, I would just use a face wash and go. I also wish I would have used more products in my early 20’s, like sunscreen, moisturizer, and serums as an early preventative. Luckily, I’ve learned a few lessons in the past few years that have taken my skin to a whole new level and I’m excited to share them with you! The first major change is, I wash my face every night even if I didn’t wear makeup that day and use a moisturizer. I remember the days I would go out and party all night and sleep in my makeup…yuck! That is the worst for your skin. More on that later, but first I have to share my favorite best kept secret…actually I have no secrets, I tell everyone!! LOL
I have sensitive combination skin, yay for me! haha So it’s tough for me to find products I love and have a hard time trying something new because I’m always nervous it’s going to have a negative effect on my skin. However, there are a couple things I do, and swear by, to maintain a healthy glow. 1) Water. Yes that seems super obvious but we all know healthy skin starts from the inside. Drink plenty of water and hello, it’s free! 2. Hydrafacial. Whenever someone comments on my skin I ALWAYS tell them “I get Hydrafacials and it’s the best thing you could do for your skin!” It’s not your typical facial where you’re in a spa, soft music is playing, and someone is gently caressing your skin. Some people like that, me I want something that’s going to suck out all the gross stuff from my pores and make my skin look like a baby’s butt, yes that smooth!
Enter the Hydrafacial, it’s perfect for all skin types and helps fight fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, enlarged pores, oily skin, and firms and tightens (don’t we all want that!) So what is a Hydrafacial exactly? It’s this very cool multi-step treatment that takes 30 minutes, it cleanses, exfoliates and extracts impurities and dead skin cells while replenishing nutrients back into the skin. The best part (this may make me sounds like a freak, haha) but, once your treatment is over they’ll show you the bottle of everything that was extracted from your skin….EW it’s so gross, you honestly you won’t believe all the nastiness that was hiding in your skin. Needless to say, I do this twice a month. LOL It has dramatically changed my skin and I’ve even noticed a difference when applying makeup, everything just goes on so smooth! I go to Sente Bella Med Spa in downtown San Diego and Weslee always works her magic on my skin! (If you happen to go let them know I sent you and you’ll get a discount, holla!)
Since I’m obsessed with skin care, I also like to give myself facials at home in between my Hydrafacials. I’ll either use a sheet, gel, mud mask or exfoliating treatment, just depending on how my skin is feeling, how much time I have and if I’m trying to get work done or if I’m able to lay down for 10 minutes without distractions! When my skin is on the dry side (thank you mother nature) I’ll use a gel mask and if I’m traveling I love sheet masks on the plane to rehydrate my skin. I had been dying to try these Peter Thomas Roth masks for quite some time but they were kind of pricy, then I saw them online at Beauty Bridge in a 5 pack for basically the price of 1 so naturally I had to have it!! I also wanted to share my take on each one in case you were interested in trying these out too or if you’ve already tried these, which one is your favorite?
Peter Thomas Roth Face Masks
24K Gold Mask: Yes you read that right, 24K Gold in a mask! I mean hello who doesn’t want to rub gold all over their body! LOL This particular mask is infused with pure 24K gold and colloidal gold to help firm the skin and add that glow we all dream of without the need for a highlighter. This was the first of the 5 five masks I tried because it was calling my name!! It also claims to lift, brighten and calm the appearance of skin. No matter how old you are this is a must try!
Rose Stem Cell Bio Repair Gel Mask: Not going to lie, I was initially drawn to this because my favorite color is pink, but then I actually read about it and tried it’s pretty amazing. It’s also pretty technical, but basically, they used plant biotechnology that isolates and replicates five rose plant stem cells in a cooling gel that helps improve the overall look of your skin. This works wonders if you keep it in the fridge and apply cold.
Cucumber Gel Mask: This is a great gel mask to use if you had a little too much sun exposure, just had a facial peel, wax or extractions. It’s soothing and calming and reminds me of being at a spa. Think of this as the high-end version of rubbing aloe vera on your face! Another one of those gel masks you can keep in the fridge and I personally think it works better on your skin that way.
Pumpkin Enzyme Mask: This mask smells like Pumpkin Pie and if you know me this is my all time favorite dessert. It took everything I had not to lick the jar! I noticed my skin looks healthier and brighter after using this. I will say that it feels strange putting it on, it does tingle a little (could be due to my sensitive skin) but it does add a healthy glow to your skin and again smells amazing!!
Irish Moor Mud Mask: This mask helps purify, decongest and hydrate skin. It doesn’t smell like anything so if you’re sensitive to smell this one is for you. It also helps draw out any dirt and oil from your pores while minimizing them at the same time. Bye bye pores!
If you want to try one or all five of these Peter Thomas Roth Masks you can get them online at Beauty Bridge. They typically go for around $50 each and the 5 pack is $75!!!
I hope you found this handy! I’ll share my nightly skin care routine with you next and if there’s anything else you want to know please ask!! I’m an open book and more than happy to share with you my tips and tricks to keeping your skin looking flawless!
