With Mother’s Day this weekend, I thought it would be fun to surprise my mom and spoil her for a pre-Mother’s Day treat! All she knew was “Be ready at 10:30 and we’ll be gone all day!” To say she was excited is a complete understatement! My mom, Stephanie, is selfless, giving, and the most loving mom and friend anyone would ask for. I remember the first time she met Rick, we walked into her house and Rick said “you aren’t going to knock?” I was like “what?! No!” LOL We walked right in and she greeted him with open arms, a big smile and huge hug! No matter who comes through her door she’s welcoming, warm and makes everyone feel like family!
Not only is she a hard worker, but she also takes care of my 6 nieces and nephews anytime my sisters ask and yes, she can’t wait to take care of my future kids too! LOL So I thought it was the perfect time to give back to her and say thank you for being an amazing mom and friend!
So last Sunday, despite the rain, she was ready to go! I showed up a few minutes early and she was like a kid on Christmas morning. A couple of minutes later “knock, knock” she opened the door and was greeted by Michelle from Tesla! Tesla had picked us up in their brand new Model X and let me tell you, I’m totally sold on this car! HAHA I’ll be honest, I was skeptical of a car you had to plug in, but once I saw this gorgeous car and the falcon doors fly open, Mom and I both looked at each other like “say what!” Adding to my birthday list! LOL Plus all the other amenities, 0-60 in 2.9 seconds (I used to want to be a race car driver, so anything fast, I’m in), self driving, safe, and sexy! I mean I could literally go on! Mom was impressed, to say the least! We hopped in and headed to Fashion Valley Mall!
After picking up our Henri Bendel goodie bags filled with everything from gift cards, discounts to incredible stores, bags from Kipling, Scarves from Johnny Was, Sweets from Sugarfina and so much more we were ready to get our day started!
Our first stop, lululemon! We spent a good hour here trying on everything from cozy knit sweaters, leggings, sports bras and looking at all the work out accessories. We both ended up with the same sweater just a different color! LOL We were definitely in cozy mode and the Well Being sweater was too perfect, especially with the weather that day! I was tempted to change on the spot and being a personal stylist it was fun to show off my skills with my mom!
We all know shopping can be exhausting at times so we decided to take a break and refuel before heading back out! We stopped for lunch at my mom’s favorite restaurant, True Food Kitchen. True Food has a very relaxed atmosphere that serves health-conscious meals and cocktails! We decided to go all out and order drinks, apps and entrée’s, why not! We highly suggest the Hangover RX and Kale Refreshers as well as the Torched Avocado and Chicken Salad. Yum!
After getting married almost 2 months ago I’ve been crazy busy so to be able to just sit with my mom and talk was such a nice treat. We talked about marriage, kids, and all the exciting trips she has planned. (She’s an avid traveler!)
Next up on our agenda, facials with Clarins! Did you know Bloomingdale’s had a spa inside their store? They sure do!! This wasn’t your typical mini session at the counter facial, nope! Leslie from Clarins led my mom to a private room and spent an hour giving her a custom facial. My mom came out looking like a new rejuvenated woman with glowing skin! Also like she had taken a little nap! LOL
Leslie was fantastic and very knowledgable about all things skin related. She even gave us tons of samples specific to our personal skin care!
We had a little time to kill in between our next appointment so we wandered around Bloomingdale’s and did a little shopping!
With our fresh faces we were off to MAC to get beautified!! Vanessa and Gabi, our MAC makeup artists, walked us into the private VIP room in the back of the MAC store to work their magic! I kept looking at my mom and she had the biggest smile on her face! I knew it would be a day she wouldn’t soon forget, although we weren’t even close to being done with our day!
The finished product! Thank you so much to MAC, Vanessa, and Gabi for making us look and feel beautiful!
So what’s a fresh face of makeup without a new hair style…off we went to Aveda!! By this point I think my mom was completely overwhelmed. We had already been shopping at lululemon, lunch at True Food Kitchen, Facials with Clarins, had our makeup done with MAC and I think she and anyone would have been happy with just that. But no, she deserves way more, so the fun continued!
We met Claire at Aveda, who could not have been sweeter and super fun! She really made us feel at home and curled our hair in a matter of minutes, girls got skills! If you’re at Fashion Valley and need your hair done, please stop in to Aveda and ask for Claire, she’ll make your day!
You guys already know how much I love Kendra Scott jewelry, my mom borrows mine all the time, so I thought it would be the perfect stop on our Mother’s Day tour! When we walked up my mom looked at me and said “No way!” She was so excited to see all the amazing new pieces in their store, she even asked where the Color Bar was! Apparently I talk about it all the time! LOL The Color Bar allows you to fully customize your own jewelry and it’s made on the spot in store!
My mom chose the Elyse Double Band Ring from the Color Bar in Rose Gold.
“Where to next??” My mom asked!! LOL I said “How about a quick break from shopping for a little pick me up!” We popped into Godiva, sampled some delicious caramels and ordered chocolate covered strawberries cones. What mom doesn’t love chocolate!! It was the perfect treat and gave us a little time to rest our feet and recharge because we weren’t done just yet!!
There are two things I’m certain of, chocolate and jewelry will always make a woman smile! Am I right?! Men, write that down!! LOL So why not incorporate more jewelry into our Mother’s Day tour!
Mom and I went to Uno De 50 a jewelry boutique where 100% of the jewelry is handcrafted in Spain and we picked out a few of our favorite pieces, see below! Being Spanish, my mom and I were thrilled to see all of these stunning designs and knowing they were made in Spain! Every piece was truly unique and you could tell they put a lot of love and time into creating each piece!
As our Mother’s Day tour winded down, I had one last trick up my sleeve for my mom! What better way to end the day than with SHOE SHOPPING!!!
Our last stop on my mom’s Mother’s Day tour at Fashion Valley Mall was The Shoe Box! We walked in and Karla greeted my mom with flowers!! How sweet! My mom was so overjoyed she had tears well up in her eyes. After giving Karla and me hugs she was on the hunt for the perfect pair of shoes!! We spent a good 45 minutes trying on just about every single pair of shoes in the store, everything from Schutz, Kate Spade, to Stuart Weitzman. The options are endless! Karla and her team could not have been more helpful, once we found the perfect pair of shoes and handbags, we toasted with champagne! I think every shoe shopping experience should end with champagne! LOL

After The Shoe Box we made our way to valet where our Tesla was waiting to take us home. We packed all of our shopping bags into the trunk (which is in the front of the car) and said to good-bye to Fashion Valley as we made our way down the freeway back to my mom’s house. My mom looked at me and said “This was the best day ever. I’ll never forget it. Thank you so much!” The fact that I got to spend the entire day with my mom, uninterrupted and spoiling her like crazy was the perfect day and one I’ll never forget either. I love you mom, happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you so much to Fashion Valley Mall, lululemon, Tesla, True Food Kitchen, Clarins, Bloomingdale’s, MAC, Aveda, Kendra Scott, Uno De 50, Godiva and The Shoe Box for making this day possible. We are eternally grateful!
If you live in San Diego please check out all of these amazing stores at Fashion Valley! Better yet, take your mom on a Mother’s Day trip, it will be a day you never forget!!
