Every year for the 4th of July my family and I get together in Mammoth, CA to celebrate the holiday. It’s roughly 400 miles north of San Diego and about a 6 hour drive (I once drove myself in the middle of the night and got there in 4 hours…oops! I may or may not have driven like a race car driver.) It’s been my family tradition since I can remember and it is always the best time! People always ask me “Mammoth in July? What do you do there?” Most people associate Mammoth with the snow and skiing, which is just as fun, but you’d be surprised how busy it is in the summer. Actually, with all the snowfall this past year there is still snow on the mountain and the lifts are still open. So we may snowboard at 9:00 a.m. and horseback ride by 3:00 p.m. The best of both worlds!

What I love most about our trip is the drive up. Rick and I leave early, listen to music, talk and enjoy the beautiful drive. Once we get there all the kids and family are ready to play, eat and relax. We bike ride, watch the parade on the 4th, potluck every night, play tennis, golf, hike, shop, swim, fish and one year Rick and I hiked Half Dome at Yosemite. That was insane! But most importantly we’re with our family and if you know me, family is the most important thing to me! I’ll be sharing lots with you over on my IG stories! What are your plans for the 4th of July? Do you have any traditions? I’d love to hear!
I also wanted to share some fun 4th of July inspired looks with you. I get TONS of questions about my American Flag aviators and I found them here for only $9!! Yes please! I’ve also linked a bunch of patriotic apparel (that can be worn well after the 4th) including this gorgeous star pullover sweater.
Hope you have a safe and fun holiday!! xo Vanessa
